With a total of 711 teams representing an impressive 415 institutions, this recognition is the highest academic honor bestowed by the CSCAA. Sponsored by Fitter & Faster Swim Camps, these awards shine a spotlight on programs that excel both in the pool and in the classroom.
But here's where it gets controversial: some might argue that academic achievements should be prioritized over athletic performance. However, the CSCAA's Executive Director, Samantha Barany, believes these student-athletes have achieved a remarkable balance. She states, "Their success reflects the strength of collegiate swimming and diving as a sport that develops leaders in the classroom, in competition, and beyond."
Let's dive into the details! The Scholar All-America designation includes teams from NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, as well as NAIA, junior colleges, and community colleges. This broad representation highlights the sport's impact on academic excellence across various levels of competition.
To qualify, teams had to maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher during the Fall 2025 semester. An impressive 16,455 student-athletes earned this recognition, showcasing their dedication to academic achievement alongside their athletic prowess.
And this is the part most people miss: several programs truly stood out with exceptional team GPAs. Colorado College (Division III) men and Brenau University (NAIA) women led the pack with GPAs of 3.81 and 3.93, respectively. In Division I, Duke University and the University of South Carolina tied for the highest men's GPA at 3.70, while Rice University and the University of Kansas shared top honors for the women with a GPA of 3.83.
The list goes on, with each division and conference boasting their own academic all-stars. From Barry University men in Division II to Monmouth College women in Division III, and from Meridian CC in the NJCAA to Keiser University in the NAIA, these teams have proven that academic excellence is a priority.
In addition to these individual team achievements, several conferences demonstrated an unwavering commitment to academic success. The Atlantic Sun, Big Ten, Big Twelve (Women), Centennial, Ivy League, and more, placed 100% of their active men's or women's teams on the Scholar All-America list.
