The Razorbacks are on a recruiting roll!
In a significant move, Arkansas has secured the commitment of Xadavien Sims, a former four-star recruit and Oregon defensive lineman. This announcement, made by Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, addresses a crucial need for the team's defensive line.
Sims, standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 305 pounds, has three years of eligibility remaining after appearing in just four games during his two seasons with the Ducks. His decision to transfer to Arkansas is a big win for the Razorbacks, who are looking to bolster their defensive unit.
But here's where it gets interesting: Sims is not the only high-profile addition to the team. Arkansas has been busy in the transfer portal, making several notable signings across various positions.
On Sunday, they added offensive guard Malachi Breland (Memphis), long snapper Adam Johnston (Sacramento State), kickers Braeden McAlister (Ga. State) and Max Gilbert (Tennessee), and nickel/safety Christian Harrison (Cincinnati). The following day, quarterback AJ Hill, running back Sutton Smith, wide receiver Jamari Hawkins (Memphis), and linebacker Ja'Quavion Smith joined the squad.
The Hogs continued their recruiting success on Tuesday, adding running back Jasper Parker (Michigan), defensive tackles Carlon Jones (USC) and Hunter Osborne (UVA), and four-star cornerback Jahiem Johnson (Tulane). However, they also suffered a significant miss with Carius Curne choosing Ole Miss instead.
Wednesday brought more good news with the addition of edge rusher Jamonta Waller (Auburn) and cornerback Shelton Lewis (Clemson). The team also secured commitments from four-star transfer linebacker Khmori House (UNC) and Steven Soles (Kentucky).
Thursday saw even more talent join the Razorbacks, including transfer corner La'khi Roland (Maryland), tight end Matt Adcock (Memphis), linebacker Phoenix Jackson (Baylor), and cornerbacks Tyler Scott (Ga. State) and Braydon Lee (Maryland). The team further strengthened their receiving corps with Donovan Faupel (NMSU) and added Josiah Clemons, an offensive lineman from Memphis. The day concluded with a massive addition: top-ten tackle Bryant Williams from Louisiana.
Arkansas also managed to snag Carey Clayton, an offensive lineman from Southlake (Texas) Carroll, who was previously committed to Ryan Silverfield's staff at Memphis but remained unsigned through December.
The Razorbacks kicked off Friday, Jan. 9th, with the acquisition of prized transfer offensive tackle Terence Roberson from OBU, followed by another linebacker, Jeremy Evans, from Baylor. Later that day, they added tight end Ty Lockwood from Boston College. The signings continued on Saturday with the announcement of quarterback Braeden Fuller from Angelo State.
On Sunday, the 11th, Arkansas welcomed safety Ian Williams (Memphis) and linebacker Ben Bogle (West Virginia), and later signed receiver Chris Marshall from Boise State. The following Monday, they added another wide receiver, former LSU speedster Jelani Watkins.
As the transfer window neared its end on Friday, the 16th, Arkansas added safety Carter Stoutmire (Colorado), corner Kyeaure Magloire (West Georgia), safety John Howse IV (MTSU), and offensive lineman Ayden Bussell (WVU).
With the transfer window closing on Jan. 16th, Arkansas has been busy addressing needs across the entire team. And this is the part most fans are buzzing about: how will these new additions impact the team's performance in the upcoming season? Will the Razorbacks become a force to be reckoned with? Only time will tell, but the excitement is palpable.
